Welcome to Greece, the country where European civilization was born, is situated in the South-East of Europe and surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea and Ionian Sea.

The country is divided in two parts; the mainland and the hundreds of Greek islands.

Greece is a polyvalent country where ancient art and modern structures are combined, beautiful nature, endless beaches and deep blue seas are omnipresent, enjoying a pleasant Mediterranean climate. The images of the dazzling white houses set against a backdrop of the blue sky and crystal waters definitely typify Greece. In 2006 Patras (one of Greece s ancient cities) was chosen to be the European cultural capital city of the year.

The main holiday destinations are Athens and the Peloponnesus for the ancient part, Santorini, Naxos and Mykonos which are part of the Cyclades, Corfu, Zakynthos and Kefalonia (Ionian Islands) Rhodes and of course Crete, the most southern and biggest island in the Aegean Sea. Rhodes - The Island of the Sun

The biggest island in the Dodecanese and the fourth largest in Greece , Rhodes boasts of its age-old history and astonishing natural beauty.

The island benefits from a mild climate and has an average of 300 days of sunshine per year. The biggest asset of the island is "the city of Rhodes "; its a splendid mediaeval city, the largest of its kind in Europe which is still inhabited nowadays. Famous all over the world is the Butterfly Valley : a green valley with running waters and thousands of butterflies.

Athens and surroundings - In the shadow of the Acropolis

The city boasts of unique archaeological sites, monuments and museums and hosts many cultural events and festivals.

Today Athens is the commercial, cultural, financial, political and industrial centre of Greece . Plaka, the picturesque romantic part of Old Athens, situated in the shadow of the Acropolis, with neo-classical mansions and vivid day and night life is one of Athens main features together with the Syntagma square and its traditional guard change. Glyfada, at the south east of Athens is famous for its beautiful beaches.

Peloponnesus - Get a taste of Ancient Greece

The Peloponnesus is located in the southwest of mainland Greece and can be easily reached from Athens via the famous Canal of Corinth . Kos - The island of Hippocrates

Kos, the island of Hippocrates , the father of medicine, distinguishes for her rich history, the untold beauties and the culture of her residents.
This beautiful island, which belongs to the complex of Dodecanese, is third in size after Rhodes and Karpathos and is the greenest and most fertile island of the group. It lies between the islands of Nisyros and Kalymnos, close to the coasts of Asia Minor . It is long and narrow in shape, mostly flat with two low mountains running along its southern coast. Kos town, the capital of the island, with its wide paved avenues, the profusion of greenery, the long alleys of palm trees, the picturesque harbour and the many archaeological sites in and around the town create a strong impression.
